Wait on the Lord – 11.16.25

Point of Repentance: Not Waiting in the Lord

.

Scripture:

Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

.

Observation:

God strengthens the weak. The qualification for this strength, however, is not weakness but a willingness to wait upon the Lord. To wait on the Lord means several things. Most importantly, it means operating in His timing – not running ahead or falling behind. You go right when (and only when) He says, “Go!”

Secondly, it means to train and maintain until He gives an order. An army is not just sitting around doing nothing until a general gives an order. They stay vigilant and ready so at a moment’s notice they can do what they are commanded.

Finally, to wait upon means to serve, like a waiter or waitress at a restaurant. It means that we seek to please God and to offer Him what He desires. If, the next time you eat out, the person taking your food order was to constantly talk about how hungry they were and what they wanted to eat instead of taking your order, chances are that you would never go back to that restaurant.

.

Application:

If you want God to give you new, supernatural strength, then you need to wait on His timing, grow in spiritual disciplines, seek to please Him instead of yourself. Remember, Jesus said many times that He only came to do the Father’s will, to do what He saw Him doing, and lived a life of discipline so that He could be ready when His Father revealed His will.

James 4:6 God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

.

Prayer of Repentance:

Father, I love You. Thank You for today. I repent of my pride and selfishness and for not waiting upon You as I should. I ask for Your forgiveness for moving ahead of You at times, and for not following at others. I repent for not maintaining a state of being ready in season and out of season. I repent for making our interactions all about me instead of seeking to please You. Holy Spirit, I ask that You would give me wisdom, strategy, and grace. Teach me to wait upon You and to fly on eagle’s wings. Amen.
