Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all [that you need] will be given to you as well.
– Matthew 6:33
We live in an increasing selfish culture. Many come to God with a, “What can You do for me, and what have You done for me lately?” attitude. The kingdom is not all about getting, it’s about Jesus. When you spend yourself trying to push through the crowd to reach the hem of His robe, when all you want is Jesus – you get Him and He meets your needs as a result. We must be careful in our seeking, however, that we are seeking His face rather than just His hand.
Prayer: Lord, I love You and thank You for my life. Search me and know me and find if there is any wicked way in me, purify my heart and my motives so that I come to You because of Who You are, not just because of what You can do for me. Help me to love You and serve You instead of coming to you to serve myself. Amen.
