Top gun – the best of the best facing impossible odds, with an imposing enemy, pulling out all the stops. There are bumps and scrapes and even some losses along the way, but the hero ultimately takes to the skies, defeats the bad guys, gets the girl, and comes home. It actually sounds like the gospel. The Father’s children ran off with the enemy and were enslaved. Jesus comes onto the scene and crushes the head of the enemy, ascends back into heaven and will one day come and get the girl, His bride, and bring us home into eternity.
