Become What You Behold (Day 2 – January 20, 2026), P. Trevor Kring

Scripture:

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Observation:

Sight works by light reflecting off an object and hitting our eye. The eye then turns photons into electrical signals that the brain, then, interprets and assembles those signals into meaningful images. The light of God’s word and self-revelation not only produce information and images, but when we mix them with faith, the Holy Spirit turns them into transformation in our hearts, minds, and souls (Revelation 12:2).

Application:

Spiritually speaking, you become what you behold. What are you beholding? That will determine what you are being transformed into. If you are viewing violence or perversion, you will become more violent or perverse. If you are listening to profanity or gossip, you will become profane and become a gossip yourself. This is why the word encourages us to focus on what is good, true, and godly (Philippians 4:8). If you want to become more godly, you MUST redirect your attention to God (through the word, prayer, worship, etc.), and turn away from the sinful, worldly, and empty things that unmake us and destroy the image of God in our lives.

Prayer:

Father, I love You. Thank You for today. I ask forgiveness for grieving Your Holy Spirit and defiling the temple of my life (Ephesians 4:29-32, 1 Corinthians 6:19) with worthless things. God, I choose to turn away from beholding sin and ungodliness. I choose to behold You in Your word and with the focus of my life. Transform me from the inside that I may look, act, think, and feel as You do. Let Your Kingdom come and will be done in my life, Lord. Amen.
