Day 12 of 21 – Love and Light

Scripture:   If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (Isaiah 59:9-11)

Observation:   Here, God reveals a principle and a promise about how fasting correctly causes our light to shine in the darkness (John 1:5). It also brings divine guidance, satisfaction, strength, refreshing and causes us to be a source of strength for others.

Application:   The condition? We need to be fasting with the right motives and actions. We need to break off anything that is pulling us down, stop blaming others, watch what we say, and learn to have compassion and genuinely care about other people.

Prayer:   Jesus, I love You. I need You today. You are great and the one true example of what love is and looks like. Help me to love and serve those You want to touch in my life. Help me to stop assigning blame and start showing love and mercy. I want Your light to shine through me and to bring refreshing to the souls of others. Amen.
