Day 16 of 21 – It Is NOT A Game

Scripture:   No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord (Isaiah 54:17).

Observation:   Our words have power because we were made in the image of God. The Word says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). This is why it is so important to be careful what we say, when, and to whom. In Matthew 12:36, Jesus tells us that we will be judged (examined) for every idle word we say.

This also means that other people’s words have power as well. Gossip, cursing, and speaking against others all have power, and it’s not God. When we curse someone by speaking bad about them, or someone curses us for cutting them off in traffic, those words cooperate with and empower the enemy.

Application:   First, if you have spoken against anyone for any reason, repent and ask for forgiveness. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any words you need to repent for. Then, break off word curses that have been spoken against you. This is something we should do on a regular basis. The enemy is always looking for prophets of darkness who will weaponize their words against God’s people. When we do this as a lifestyle, we will shut out the enemy’s access to our lives through words that should never have been spoken.

Prayer:   Lord, I love You and thank You for today. I ask for forgiveness for every word I have spoken against anyone, including myself. I ask, Holy Spirit, that You would let me know if there is anything else that I said that I need to repent for. I also break off every word spoken against me, my family, my pastors, or my church in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points:

  • Repent of saying anything evil: lying, gossiping, cursing, etc.
  • Break off every word spoken against you in Jesus’ name.
  • Ask God for covering and protection over you, your family, and your church.
