Scriptures: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
Observation: One of the titles of Jesus is Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He desires that we walk in peace, especially in chaos, tragedy, and the never-ending hurry of life. God assures us that we can have supernatural and even unreasonable peace by the power of the Holy Spirit. He desires to keep our hearts (passions, will, emotions, and desires) and our minds (thoughts, reasoning, and decisions) grounded in His word and wisdom by His presence through the Holy Spirit.
Application: How do we access and experience this peace? Develop the discipline of talking to God through prayer throughout your day. Walk with him in prayer by remaining aware and listening for His voice and taking to Him about what concerns you. We must also ask Him for what we need. It’s not just that God wants to hear about your problems, but that He also desires to give you a solution. Finally, we must develop a lifestyle of gratitude. When is the last time that you said thank you to God for answering a prayer?
When we PRAY, ASK, and THANK, Jesus anchors our soul in His peace so we can navigate the storms of life.
Prayer: Jesus, I love You. Thank You for my life, my day, and all You have given to me. You are holy. Help me to be more like You. I ask that You be with me throughout my day and help me be with You where You are. Give me eyes to see what You are doing and ears to hear what You are saying in my life. Thank You for Your love, guidance, and provision. Bring my soul to peace as I rest my attention on You. Amen.
