Scripture: “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me” (John 17:24).
Observation: Jesus wants you to be where He is. He first met us where we were – suffering in the dirt of our sin and brokenness. He then died to redeem us and conquered death itself through His resurrection. He came down to be with us and made a way for us to be with Him. He is at work in us and in the world through His Holy Spirit. Now the question is, what is He doing in your life and where He is going that He is calling you to follow. He is working in your home, school, job, etc. Are you cooperating or are you resisting Him?
Application: To be with Him where He is, we must first spend time in His word and in His presence. We invite Him to be with us and sit at His feet. We, then, through prayer and actively listening for the Holy Spirit’s voice, can discern what he is doing in and through our lives. He promised to never leave you or forsake you. We should strive to return the favor.
Prayer: Jesus, I love You. Thank You for today. You are holy. You are the King of Kings and the Lord of glory. Glorify Yourself in and through me. Help me to cultivate and maintain a humble and willing heart, that I may follow in my day, and for all my days. Be with me where I am that I may be with You where You are. Amen.
Prayer Points:
- Give me and my church eyes to see where You are leading.
- Give us a willingness, both individually and corporately, to follow.
- Give us the courage and grace to actually follow You in our lives.
