Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Sometimes the simplest principles are the most powerful. Are we acknowledging God in all our ways? Are we involving Him, or even considering Him, when we choose what to do, where to go, and make our plans? This verse isn’t saying that if we ask God for His help only in crisis then He will offer guidance. It is saying that if continually involve Him in our decision making process, then He will offer continual wisdom and direction.
Don’t know where to go or what to do? Begin acknowledging Him in your everyday activities and you will see His direction in your life. James 4:8 tells us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. The question is, do we really want Him to draw near – to have the first and final say in our life choices.
This principle is not complicated, but because of our pride, it can be extremely difficult.
Lord, I love You. Thank You for today. You alone are wise and transcend time in space. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You are already in my tomorrow. God, I ask forgiveness for my pride and presumption. Help me to acknowledge You in all I do. In my work, school, family, and life. Help me to draw near to You knowing that You will draw near to me and direct the path of my life. Holy Spirit, I need You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
