Glory (Day 1 – January 19, 2026), P. Trevor Kring

SCRIPTURE:

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

OBSERVATION:

Today, the U.S. celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He stepped up in a culture of oppression to be a voice crying out in the wilderness of prejudice, calling for the love, truth, and power of the Kingdom of light to overcome the power of darkness. His was a ministry that continued the mission of Jesus Christ.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Jesus, Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23), stepped down from heaven into human flesh and came to where we live. Not in the pretty and polished, but in the dark and dirty hopelessness of our sin and shame. Those that lived around Him saw what He did, heard what He said, and witnessed the love, truth, and power of God firsthand. Whether He was cleansing lepers, raising the dead, walking on water, multiplying food, turning water into wine, or laying down His life, He perfectly revealed the heart, mind, and will of God. The glory of God is Jesus on display.

APPLICATION:

God’s glory did not stop showing up and showing out when Jesus ascended back into Heaven. In Acts 2 the Promise came, and Jesus was with His disciples once again through the Holy Spirit. That same Holy Spirit of God is available to those who ask for Him (Luke 11:13). God desires that His glory would be on display through Jesus in your life. The Word wants to put on the flesh of your life to demonstrate the grace and truth of the Father to those around you.

PRAYER:

Father, I love You and I thank You for today. I pray ask that Jesus would be on display in my life. Help me to understand the glory, the weight, of what it means to be Your ambassador and representative. Fill me, Holy Spirit. Reveal Jesus to me and through me that Your Kingdom would come and will be done in my life and sphere of influence. Put on my life so that Your glory would shine through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
