Scripture:
Exodus 12:13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.
Observation:
When I was growing up, if someone said 90210, you already knew what that meant. Beverly Hills. Wealth. Status. Exclusivity. That zip code carried a reputation. It sounded important. But here is the truth. Everyone in 90210 still lives under the same sky. They still face sickness. They still face loss. They are not exempt from death. An exclusive address may impress people, but it does not move heaven. In Exodus 12, God introduces a different kind of exclusivity. He tells the Israelites to place the blood of a lamb on the doorposts of their homes. Then He says something powerful. “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Notice what He does not say. He does not say when I see your wealth. He does not say when I see your good behavior. He does not say when I see your effort. He says when I see the blood. That night in Egypt, houses could have looked identical. Same street. Same structure. Same neighborhood. But what was on the door determined what happened inside. The blood was the true marker. It was the sign of belonging. It declared divine ownership.
Your zip code does not make you secure. Your income does not make you secure. Your reputation does not make you secure. Without the blood of Jesus, your address means nothing in eternity. But when you put your faith in Christ, something changes. Your spiritual address shifts. You are no longer under the authority of darkness. You are covered. Marked. Claimed by God. The enemy may know your name, but he must respect the blood on your address. Two people can live on the same street. Two families can sit in the same neighborhood. One covered by the blood. One not. The difference is not external. It is covenant.
Application:
As we walk out Sabbath, it is a sacred reminder to pause and remember whose house we are. Sabbath invites us to slow down long enough to acknowledge the covering. To turn down distraction. To realign our hearts. To say again, this home belongs to the Lord. The blood of Jesus is what makes an address exclusive in the kingdom of God. Not because we are impressive, but because the Lamb is.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that my security is not in my status, my success, or my surroundings. Thank You for the blood of Jesus that marks my life as Yours. As we Sabbath, help us to rest in that covering and remember that we belong to You. Let me never trust in what looks impressive to people while ignoring what matters to heaven. Cover my home. Cover my family. Cover my heart. Remind me that the blood speaks over my address. In Jesus name amen.
