“Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” – Matthew 6:26
Jesus was not saying that we are not to consider or plan and prepare for the future, He said not to worry about it. He is saying that while we should operate in wisdom in preparation for the future, our focus should be on what’s right in front of us. Many times people do not move forward because they are too busy worrying about what may or may not come 5 or 10 miles down the road. I don’t need to worry about the left turn in the next county, I need to worry about taking the correct exit coming up in a half-mile. Simply put, walk with Jesus today where your feet already are and seek Him for wisdom for the step after that – that’s it. If we keep doing this, we can look back after a while and realize we have moved further down the road of our purpose. Jesus is inviting us to walk with Him by faith. In other words, be where you’re at so that you can get where you’re going.
Prayer: Lord, I love You and thank You for today. Help me to keep my eyes on You and not to worry about the future or things outside of my control. I reject the tyranny of the hypothetical in Jesus name. Help me to walk with You today so I can be where You’ve called me to be tomorrow. Help me to be where I’m at, so I can get where I’m going. Amen.
