Jubilee: The Spirit of the Lord

Our prophetic word for our church this year is Jubilee.

Prophetic means God’s word. Its anything that reveals the meaning or brings something or someone into alignment with His word.

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

To be anointed means to be set apart for a work of service and given the legitimate authority to do so.

Jesus has anointing. He is the Anointed One. Both His anointing and authority were authorized by His Father and given to Him by the Holy Spirit.

Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me…

It’s the Spirit of the Lord. Lord meaning owner, the one in charge, the boss, the master.

The Holy Spirit, who accomplishes the will of the Master and makes His word a reality, at the command of the Father anointed Jesus to preach, heal, set free, and reveal.

Jesus said, “I only do the will of the One who sent Me…” (John 5:30), and, “I have the power to lay down my life and the power to take it up again. This command is from My Father” (John 10:18).

We also see the Father speak in creation “Let there be light” and it is the Holy Spirit that responds by making it happen. The Father is the One who gave the command, Jesus is the word and was the message. The Holy Spirit received the word and made it so.

The Holy Spirit also anointed Jesus to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, which is another name for Jubilee.

In the OT, every 50 years would mark Jubilee. All debt was forgiven, all slaves and servants were set free, and all land went back to the original family ensuring the restoration of inheritance for the next generation. The Old Testament was God’s legal revelation of Himself that showed a standard we could never meet.

The Father sent Jesus to redeem the world of their sin, to fulfill the Law, and to bring about government or spiritual reality of the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom is not a physical kingdom with land borders. It is a government within the hearts and minds of the children of God that is administered and administrated by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17 The Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:20 If I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

What Jesus was saying is that, in the Kingdom of God, you don’t have to wait for 50 years. Jesus’ work of redemption on the cross and the Holy Spirit’s work of releasing the Kingdom in authority and power means that we can understand the word of God by revelation from the Holy Spirit, we can be free of our spiritual bondage, healed in our souls as well as our bodies, and bee free of the curse and its consequences.

The Father appointed the age of grace, the church age as not a year, but a government and environment of Jubilee.

Jesus was the One that paid the price on the cross to make this possible. “It is finished” Greek phrase “Tetelestai” which is a financial and legal term “Paid in Full”.

He then rose again and ascended back to the Father and sent His Spirit as the Chief administrator of the Kingdom. To bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.

John 14:18-21 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

He fulfilled His promise in
Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

One of the ways that the Holy Spirit manifest is speaking in tongues, but that is not the only way. He comes with gifts, understanding, compassion, healing, and power.

Wednesday workouts to learn more about the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:13-21 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.” But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only [9am]. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy… And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.’

Jesus is anointed by the Spirit of the Lord and authorized by the Father to proclaim this a year of Jubilee. A year of freedom, hope, revelation, healing, and inheritance. The holy Spirit is here to bring the Kingdom of God to earth, to your life here tonight.

The good news of the gospel and the power of grace is that you can come as you are. You don’t have to get cleaned up to come to Jesus. Come to Jesus and He will clean you up.

The price of admission into the kingdom and the family of God is not church attendance or your tithe. It is repentance.

Roman Catholic tradition translated this word “do penance” which means self-flagellation and punishment in order to receive God’s grace. You don’t have to beat yourself up, Jesus already paid the price. You don’t have to repeat prayers and words a certain number of times. Jesus already said, It is finished.

Repentance (Greek – Metanoia): new mind, a radical change of how you think, see, and act to bring your mind into alignment with God’s word.

Acts 2:37-41 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

Psalm 95:7-11 Today, if you will hear His voice: “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, as in the day of trial in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me; they tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, and said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they do not know My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

God is calling for all to repent of their sins, which means to see your sin the way He does. When you see how He sees, you will do what He says. You will begin to move in the Fear of the lord which means to love what He loves and hate what He hates. It doesn’t mean being afraid of God, but of the consequences of your sin. You begin to hate your sin and see it for the dirty death that it is and cry out for salvation.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

As He cleanses us from our sin, He wants to give you the kingdom.

Luke 12:32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

He is declaring a jubilee in your soul, life, and family if you have faith enough to repent and ask Him for His Holy Spirit. Its not about talking funny, but about being immersed and empowered by God Himself. He wants to live with you, within you, and through you.
