Scripture:
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Observation:
Anxiety, worry, and fear. These are attitudes that that God gives us the power to overcome. Notice, it says, “Do not…” this means that worry and anxiety is a choice. What Paul is telling us is that we are to make a different choice – to choose prayer, petitions (requests), and praise. When we talk to God about what we are going through, we invite Him to go through it with us. In this is why David writes, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear for You are with me” (Psalm 23:4).

Application:
Invite Jesus into your day. Talk to Him about what’s really going on in your life. Ask Him for what you need. Thank Him for His goodness. When you do, you will get your eyes off your problems, the things causing the anxiety, and onto Him. This is why David could write that Psalm amid fighting Goliath. Israel saw their enemy, a giant, compared to themselves. David saw the enemy in comparison to his God.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for today. I ask that You would be with me and help me to be with You. I thank You for my family, my church, my pastors, and my life. Your mercies are new every morning. Give me grace for today that I may be pleasing to You. Keep my heart and mind in Your peace today. Amen.
