Stay on Mission

Day 20 of 21: January 30, 2024

Luke 19:10 The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

It’s easy to get a little, or a lot, of mission, especially as a pastor. There is the administration, personnel, counseling, systems development – and don’t get me started on all the maintenance issues.

We all get distracted or overly focused on the task at hand that we inadvertently lose sight of the mission. This is why we need to keep the vision in front of us. We are not here to have nice services or to cultivate a social club. We are here to love God, love others, and make disciples.

Jesus didn’t come to be relevant or to make your Sunday morning more comfortable. He came to seek and to save that which was lost – you… me… your coworker. I’m fine with great services (I do feel we should do everything with excellence as worship), but are we keeping the main thing the main thing? Do our priorities line up with heaven’s, or are we trying to make heaven align with ours?
