Still Waters

Day 15 of 21: January 25, 2024

Scripture
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Observation
Be still. It doesn’t read do more, try harder, or work yourself up. He says to be still. Many times, we can’t hear Him because we are so busy (Luke 10:41-42).

He doesn’t say to feel like He’s God. He says to know. We are to know God personally and intimately, but this can only happen when we slow down enough to catch His gaze. It’s like trying to plan a romantic evening with your spouse, but they are on their phone through dinner, taking calls on the way home, and then deciding to mow the lawn. Sometimes, God just wants us to stop all the doing and simply sit at His feet and spend time with Him.

Application
Be still today. Clear some time and just be with Him in His word and in prayer. Make time for Him. It’s a sacrifice, but it really is that simple.

Prayer
Jesus, thank You for today. I ask for Your forgiveness for being so distracted and neglecting You. Spend time with me today, as I still myself. Reveal Yourself to me that I may know You are God.
