SCRIPTURE:
Proverbs 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil
OBSERVATION: Why do we still struggle with sin? Is it because of childhood trauma? Generational curses? An attack of the enemy? These can certainly factor into it, but the simple reality is that we sin because we don’t hate it the way God does. We may even want and love our sin (James 1:14). We sin because our flesh wants to, and we will not stop sinning until we learn to hate it the way God does (Romans 7:24).
APPLICATION: We must get honest with ourselves and with God. He already knows what is in us. He is waiting for us to come to Him so that He can cleanse and purify us. We must declare war on the sin in our lives and crucify the flesh by cutting off every place that feeds it (Romans 13:14). We must go to God and ask Him to give us His heart, mind, and perspective on the sin, and to teach us to hate it as He does.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I love You. Thank You for today. You are holy. Help me to be holy like You. I ask for forgiveness for my sin. God, I ask that You give me Your heart and perspective regarding the sin in my life. Teach me to hate what You hate and to love what You love. Transform my heart. Help me to fear You, that I may know You more, that I may love and obey You. Thank you for Your love and mercy. Amen.
