The Wonder of the Word: Day 12 of 21

Scripture:
Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one … whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on His law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.

Observation:
It is one thing to read, it is quite another to delight in what you are reading. I remember getting assigned a book in school. Every page was excruciating. My comic book, however, was with me wherever I went. One was a chore, a duty. The other was a delight. A fruitful person is one who delights and meditates on God’s word. They do not just read it as an obligation but study it as their delight.

Application:
Whenever you read the word, ask the Holy Spirit to make it alive to you. When you start seeing the word of God for the beautiful, tragic, bloody, and prophetic masterpiece that it is, Bible reading will not be a chore, but an adventure.

Prayer:
Lord, I love You. You are holy and I ask that You would be with me today. Teach me your word and help me to fall more in love with You through it. Amen.
