Walkabout

Day 13 of 21: January 23, 2023

Scripture
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Observation
We walk… Walking is an intentional movement, one step at a time. What are we being intentional about? Entertainment, work, feeding the addiction, family, Jesus? Whatever you spend your time, talents, and resources on is what you are walking toward and ultimately serving.

By faith… Faith is not wishful thinking but trusting God’s word so much that we actually do what He says (James 1:22). What empowers your walk? What is informing your walk? God’s word, or anything else?

Not by sight… It is easy to get distracted, offended, heartbroken, or indifferent with everything we see. Walking by sight means that you react to what you are experiencing in the moment. Emotions make terrible leaders – stop following them.

Application
We must acknowledge what we are experiencing but then submit that experience to the Holy Spirit and His leading. To walk by faith means to keep moving forward – to let go of what’s behind and reach for what’s ahead (Philippians 3:13). It means to get into God’s word and to ask Him how to apply it in the real world… in your world.

Prayer
Lord, I love You, and thank You for giving me today’s gift. With all of its challenges and opportunities, help me to walk with You throughout my day. Help me to forgive and show mercy. Help me not to react to everything but to maintain a focus on what You are saying and doing in my life. I want to love the way You do. I want to know You and follow You more closely. Help me to walk by faith in You and not by what I see or feel. In Jesus’ name, amen.
